I've three kids in my life, and I know what this whole process is all about, and what it feels like. So I'm going to take a wild guess and assume that right about now your encountering difficulties getting pregnant, and it's driving you off the wall nuts just trying to figure out everything that could possible be going wrong. I won't tell you to not worry...I know that's just not possible, but I will give you some better advice, that will only work in your favor.
Also, please make sure that you take a look through all my other articles, as this is only one part of a many part articles series, so look through all my work so you don't miss any very important information that could go a very long way in helping you get through this tough time.
The next little piece of advice is probably going to make you crazy. If you're anything like me, when someone tells you to 'relax' the outcome is very much the opposite. There's something kind of condescending about someone, not in your shoes, telling you not to feel the way you're feeling.
But trust me. I've been in your shoes. And the tension, anxiety, and fretting that go along with becoming a mom can be really damaging. It's such a vicious cycle- you can't relax because things aren't happening the way you planned. There are complications and difficulties getting pregnant you hadn't expected. You'd relax if only things would start working out. Research shows, though, that the chances of things working out (aka - a positive pregnancy test!) are less likely the more stressed out you become. So, how can you stop this cycle of worry, chill out and increase your chances of conceiving? It's not easy if you're a natural worrier. It's even more difficult if you're tired out from months of thinking of nothing else but getting pregnant!
There are some tried and true relaxation techniques that can definitely help. I'll admit that it does take some practice to rewire your thinking and get into a different zone but the results will be worth it. In addition to the anecdotal examples you often hear about - i.e. "It was only after we relaxed and stopped focusing on trying that we conceived!" - there are numerous studies that point to the benefits of incorporating daily relaxation exercises on fertility rates.
There are simple things that you can do at home like deep breathing techniques, meditation or yoga and there are also licensed practitioners who can assist you through acupuncture, massage and more.
I'm a mother who's given birth to 3 kids darnit! I've dedicated my life to helping you, after going through amazing hardship to discover what works when trying to conceive.
